Recently I have just started reading Leviathan, an alternative story-line of World War 1. One thing that I have been noticing is one of the secondary characters. His name is Count Volger, and is one of the main characters fencing teachers. They have a very strange relationship with the main character Aleksander, and I believe that he will play a role being on both sides of the war.
Count Volger seems to be looking for power. He does yell and bark at Aleksander, and they always seem like rivals. Even though he is Aleks teacher, I believe he is just keeping him alive because Alek was the son of a famous duke who was assassinated in Serbia. After Alek's fathers death, Alek got all of the power. I believe Volger might be using him just as the "Display" but he will really be pulling the strings instead of Alek. Also Volgar was sneaking through Aleksanders drawers, and even brought along the families fortune of gold. All in All I think that there might be something behind his normal fencing teacher.
Volger is very mysterious, and so far in the book is very commanding and more hidden. I really want to see what he might do later in the book, and I will try to tail his actions very carefully through my reading.
